This is a set of a mortar and a pestle. The product name  is Motoshige Pottery Mortar & Pestle Set. We offer eight sizes from dia, 120 to dia, 310 mm.

First of all, this Motishige's mortar is thoroughly made to enhance its performance and reduce production cost. The most important part for mortars is the comb pattern, which is done by skilled artisans and determines how well the Japanese suribachi works. The tips of the pattern is a little bit sharp, not roundish, providing sharp and comfortable grinding, so you can enjoy stress free and quick cooking

The bottom of the mortar has a silicone rubber, which works as a stopper to provide stable grinding, and what's more, it prevents damaging the table. The silicone rubber base enables direct use without placing cloth between the mortar and the table.

This set consists of a ceramic mortar made of Japanese soil and pterocarya rhoifolia, a kind of natural wood, cut down in Japan, so you can use it with safety and security. Our stoneware is microwave-safe and dishwasher-safe despite the silicone rubber that is very firmly attached to the bottom with the maker's special technique. Of course, the stone bowl can be used as a container or china bowl. After finished in the bowl, it can be served to a table as it is.
